Pope Benedict XVI announces appointment of Archbishop Peter Smith to Southwark

The Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI has appointed the Most Reverend Peter Smith, until now Archbishop of Cardiff, as the new Archbishop of Southwark

Archbishop Smith was named the tenth Bishop of Southwark on 30 April 2010. He succeeds the Most Reverend Kevin McDonald (2003-2009).

Change in Mass times

The times of the Saturday Vigil Mass and the Sunday Evening Mass is 5.30pm, not 5.45pm . This alteration enables better access to buses according to the early evening schedules.

Relics of St Thérèse of Lisieux - 22/23 September 2009

The Relics of St Thérèse of Lisieux visited our Cathedral on Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 September. Over 4,000 people made pilgrimage to the Cathedral in the twenty-four hours of the visit. The event was a blessing in so many ways. Our faith in the Communion of Saints was tangible in the genuine spiritual devotion of the pilgrims.

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament on Fridays from 11th September 2009

Commencing on Friday 11th September, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed for an extended period every Friday at the Cathedral, 9.15am – 12.15pm and 2.30pm – 4.30pm. The day will end with Solemn Benediction.
